Lewis L. Orcutt Journal Writings 2023
It's Sunday Morning and once again here is Lew
January 8
Christmas Eve 2022 at our house
A poem from the past
T'was
the night before the night before Christmas
And
all through the house
Not
a single thing was ready
Not
even the mouse
No
stockings were hung
The
whole place was a mess
And
Papa was working hard
To
deal with the stress
The
tree needs put up
There
are gifts to wrap
It
seems harder each year
To
deal with this Stuff
So
rather than stress
Just
remember the reason
The
good Lord allowed us
To
celebrate the season
And
ready or not
It’s
our Saviors night
If
we just celebrate him
All
things will be right
So
Merry Christmas to all
And to all a blessed night
.

Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
Here we are and it is 2023 and it has been quite some time since I have added anything to the journal so will see if I can do more than I have the last few years. Okay got this much now what? Guess the only option is to ramble on and on so here we go.
Life has been very busy with taking care of mom, doing both inside and outside stuff along with meals, washing, cleaning and all. Okay enough of the pity party and on with life. Our little buddy left us this last year and that was very sad as he was a great little friend and companion for mom and is truly missed!
Our little Buddy of 16 years
We found us another small puppy, a rat terrier, I believe has some Jack Russell terrier in him. Boy does he like to chew stuff so watch him very close.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Our Frisky at 8 weeks old
Frisky on our morning mile power walk at 8 months old.
We got Frisky for mom as her companion but he seems more my dog than hers. That is probably because I do all his feeding and things as mom is not up to it.

Isaiah 43:16.18-19
This is what the Lord says, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
January started with snow, freezing rain and chilly wind chills. We missed most of the snow here and the little we got caused some drifts but not even enough to get the snow blower out, bummers, I sort of like to play in the snow unless there is lots of wind and the chill is terrible. Brad has been here helping me some with all the chores to do and that sure is a big help. The year started off with me losing a back molar as it was dead and looking to get abscessed. It broke off twice while he was pulling it and then he had to dig out the final piece. Ouch!! I find I have been very busy since my last journaling so will do a short update: I have been very busy with my ham sets and have the old Swan 400 repaired and up and running and is it ever nice and my favorite right after the 240 mom got me back in 1965. Both are from 1964 and they could really make radios and things then. Worked on the Rambler a lot and it is going good and have done many hay rides for Earl May here in town along with some for church functions and even just did a evening Christmas caroling one December 21 last year. Life is very busy! I have been active at church with being an Elder, the Evangelism board, streaming our service, and running slides. All except our Washington kids made it home for Christmas eve so that was good and we had Oyster stew and Chili for supper and then just some great fellowship visiting. We suspended gift giving as it gets to be to much with all of us. Its not about the gifts anyway but about our Savior!

Isaiah
1:16-17 KJV
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Well here it is Thursday already and I am net control station (NCS) for the ARMS fellowship net. Yes I picked that up again as we were going to 4 days a week instead of the six days it has been for 65 years. I have not been with the net that long but it is hard to see some of the changes taking place in the world today, especially with the things having to do with God. Frisky is up and been out and fed so my day is off and running. Will need to call Tracfone today as my data and text are working fine but the phone calls have quit since day before yesterday when Verizon dropped the 3G service. Not sure why that affects me as my phone is 4G LTE but will see what's up. It really seems in those areas the smarter we get the dumber we become. If it is working well why do we always want to fix it which makes it even worse. Oh bother!! Well the good news is that both my phone and moms phone are working again and I only spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Tracfone to make it happen! What??
